Roger Baele, Chair of the Board
Valley Forward Association

Roger Baele is a Senior Vice President and Managing Principal in Phoenix for David Evans and Associates, Inc. DEA is recognized as a leader in sustainable design and management solutions for land development, transportation, energy, and water resources projects nationwide. In 2006, DEA was ranked No. 47 of the Top 100 "Pure Designers" in the United States by Engineering News Record.

Baele was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. He began his career as a consulting engineer there in 1979 after graduating from Purdue University. He moved west to Arizona seeking opportunity in 1981. The firm in which he was a partner merged with DEA in 1991. His past positions in DEA include Mountain States Regional Manager. Baele also holds a Masters of International Management degree from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird). He holds licenses as a Professional Engineer and as a Registered Land Surveyor.

Baele has been a member of Valley Forward Association since 1988. During that period he has served as Vice-Chair, Board Member and Executive Committee member. Over the last 18 years, he has chaired several committees including the Water Committee, and has served on other committees including the Report Card committee.

Baele is very active in the community. He is a founding member and Past-President of the Friends of the West Valley Recreation Corridor, a not-for-profit organization of which VFA was a co-founding partner. He currently serves on the Board of Phoenix Community Alliance. He is also a member of Valley Partnership, WestMarc, and the American Council of Engineering Consultants.

Baele resides in Phoenix with his wife Robin and two boys Dan and Kevin. He enjoys coaching his sons' teams, hiking, travel, and photography in his spare time.
